If I will tell my “most” unforgettable experience, I will share my “recent” unforgettable experience instead because my old unforgettable experiences are now forgettable. That “recent” unforgettable experience is getting a final interview in Western WATS. Why? Because it was the only call center that offered me a final interview. That made me VERY happy.

And why I am so happy with that? When I came here in Cebu, I didn’t see myself applying in a call center. I knew I was not call center agent material. Even my folks back in Iligan City cannot imagine me working in a call center industry. They said that my English communication sucks. I came here in Cebu originally to find a teaching or a curator job since I am an AB History graduate. Unfortunately, I didn’t get that job because I lack requirements like a Masters degree or a teaching license. So my new goal was an office job or become a product operator in MEPZ.

While applying for those positions, I learned that most of my friends worked in a call center. It came into me that I should be applying in a call center too then I cancelled my other applications. It was a monkey-see, monkey-do decision.

I came with a list of call centers to apply at. Those on the top of my list, I considered them as just “trial and error” places. I just wanted to get the feel of applying. On the very bottom of that list was a call center named Western WATS. This is where most of my friends worked in and it’s very near to our apartment. I have to get the job.

Just as expected, I failed getting the job. But the thing that made me glad was the fact that I made it to the final interview – the final PANEL interview. I can’t believe I survived the reading tongue twister test and the written exam that test your listening skills. Even with this simple fact, I can brag this to my folks back in Iligan.

Now I’m back with a so-called vengeance. After LEAD, I will try re-applying in WATS. But this time, this will be the last call-center job hunting. As mentioned, if I fail again, I will continue my application on other jobs in MEPZ that I have initially set eyes on.

Ten years from now, I’ll be in Utah working as a Customer Service Representative for Western WATS client. That is, of course, if I get hired as a market researcher and work my way up the call center ladder.

If not, then ten years from now, I’ll be an administration assistant in Western WATS. I’ll be working as the supervisor for all front desk officers of the company. That is, if I don’t get hired as a market researcher but get a job as a front desk officer in the same company.

If not, then ten years from now, I’ll be working as a team leader of a group of product operators working in Lexmark. That is, if I don’t even get hired as a front desk officer in WATS but work in Lexmark instead.

If not, then ten years from now, I’ll be a regular employee in a garment factory in MEPZ2. That is, if I don’t get hired for a job like a product operator in Lexmark.

If not, then ten years from now, I’ll be a super high level mercenary battling elves and dragons in a virtual world where I have a job.
