Magento Hate

I am so not liking Magento right now. Yes, it’s supposed to be a “snazzy ecommerce platform” but I won’t blame this to learning curve. Nooooo. I have already installed Wordpress and BANS for the FIRST TIME and didn’t encounter any problems whatsoever by just reading the freakin’ manual. Well, I know those are too easy to install. But then, this is a different case.

Been tinkering with this for almost a week now and it is getting on my nerves. Got errors importing the SQL of their sample data in phpmyadmin. That is why I cannot use the Downloader to install Magento. I am doing the Default Install instead to run away from sample data.

Transferring the files via FTP would leave me nail-less on every finger if I spend my time watching it trickle file by file. No, I won’t do that. My time is too precious. I have to leave my PC running and uploading the dang files. And only to find out later that it’s still NOT working! The internal server error 500 is still there happily looking at me. I change the permissions several times already and still it didn’t work.

My desperation even reached Twitter but no Magento person contacted me. Yes, I was expecting it to be like GoDaddy where their customer service is 5-stars! More on that later.

I will now see where oh, where did I go wrong. Any Magento experts there who want to end my hatred?

Bu-bu-button Eyes for Coraline

Coraline Jones (Dakota Fanning) is bored in her new home until she finds a secret door and discovers an alternate version of her life on the other side. On the surface, this parallel reality is eerily similar to her real life and the people in it – only much better. But when this seemingly perfect world turns dangerous, and her other parents (including her Other Mother voiced by Teri Hatcher) try to keep her forever, Coraline must count on her resourcefulness, determination and bravery to get back home – and save her family.

How about living in a parallel place? A dream come true where everything is so good that it can’t be real!

If you are like Coraline always dreaming of finding a better world then you should be careful of what you wish for. And if you want to watch something disturbing like “The Nightmare Before Christmas” you might want this to be your date movie on Valentine’s Day. You might want to check out the trailer first before making that decision. ;)

Coraline will be in theaters February 6th. This is by the way a movie directed and written for the screen by Henry Selick. The book is by Neil Gaima. If you are the type who wants to “read the book first before watching the movie”, you can grab one from Amazon.

The author, by the way, has mentioned that Coraline will be one of the strangest stop-motion film you could ever watch.

If you need more information on the movie, check out http://coraline.com/. I might just watch this film. :) What about you?
